Wilderness Retreat (Drew Simon)

Overall, how do you feel that the retreat went? What was your favorite part? Were their parts that you didn't like? How are you going to apply what you learned?

  1. Overall, I really enjoyed the retreat. It was a great time to reconnect with friends and meeting some new ones. I loved the hiking the most and just being outside. I also loved the small groups, it was great to be able to think things through with others and have a time to pray for each other. I think everyone did a great job teaching their lessons and made great conects for us. The think that I need to apply to my life the most is the idea of sabbath and rest, this is the one thing that I struggle with the most because I hate not doing things.

  2. I think that the retreat was great it was well needed time with God that i wasnt looking for but it found me. My favorite part was hicking and making new friends and just doing reckless things while hiking. The beds were kind of bad for the guys but other than that it was a great trip. I am going to look for cool places like that, that are cheap to take my youth group there and have a good time.

  3. I did enjoy the retreat and it nice to get away from school and kind of chill. I loved zip lining and the hike. I liked when different people spoke about the different disciplines because I needed to hear that. I loved loved loved the worship time. I love when all my friends get together and start worshipping God. I did like this retreat and hopefully I can go on it next year as well. I can apply this by sharing what I learned with my youth group and possibly planning a retreat for my youth group. I know that they would love it=)

  4. I enjoyed the retreat very much! I thought that it came at a bad time and I had a million things to do, but God knew what He was doing and it was exactly what I needed. It was nice to get to rejuvenate and spend time with some really amazing, Godly people. My favorite part was probably the hiking and ziplining, although it was really good to also hear our fellow peers speak on the different spiritual disciplines. I'm not sure if there was anything that I didn't like, nothing that sticks out in particular. I will most definitely use retreats like this in my future with my youth group and also teach them spiritual disciplines to help them grow in their walk also.

  5. I loved the retreat-it was much needed! My favorite parts of the retreat were probably the small group discussions and the free time to spend getting to know each other better. I enjoyed the depth of the small group, but also the excitement of meeting new people and getting to know those I already know better! Normally, if there was anything I could say that I did not like, it would be how early we were up in the morning...but thanks to Jenn's great coffee choice, I looked forward to shaking off the morning grogginess! :) A few things I learned are that: 1.)There is a fine balance between having enough scheduled events and enough free time (because both serve beneficial purposes), 2.) Anything can become a group-building task (like getting the groceries), and 3.) That in the end, as much as retreats are supposed to provide time to form community, they need to allow time to be spent intentionally alone with God (whether that's trough silence, solitude, journaling, ect.).

  6. The retreat was awesome! I too thought it came at a bad time and wasted thoughts on what I needed to get done, but I quickly changed my mind. It was great getting to know people and just enjoy being together. This was the first time since I transferred here that I have felt so connected - I loved it! I really appreciated hearing the insights and words spoken by our classmates who shared about spiritual disciplines and their experiences with them. It is such a blessing to be surrounded by such wonderful people who are so clearly in love with God. Between ziplining and hiking, making giant pancakes, worship time, grocery shopping, games, and all else, we all had so much fun together! I intend to encourage opportunities like this in the future with the people I'm ministering to as awesome opportunities to build community =)

  7. I thought the retreat went very well, it came at a bad time for me, it being in the middle of the biggest and only fundraiser that the radio station has and all. God really taught me a lot throughout this retreat though, and I feel like it was a great time to bond with some of the people in our class, as well as the other class. I really loved the nights of worship that we had together, it was a really comfortable setting and seemed pure to me. My least favorite part was the heights while zip lining but after I got done with the first high spot, I had a lot of fun with it and wanted to go right back on. I also enjoyed being out in nature and going on the numerous hikes throughout the weekend. It was a nice time to just get away and focus on God.

  8. I thought the retreat was awesome overall. My favorite part was the worship experience. It was amazing to sit in a room full of everyone just belting their hearts out to the Lord in song. I thought it was really powerful, and I definitely felt God's presence. I want to try to apply the spiritual disciplines into my life more often. I lack when it comes to practicing spiritual disciplines, and I want to get into the habit of practicing them whenever I can. I really heard God speak to me a lot during this retreat, and I want to apply the things He spoke to me in my daily life.
