Camp Projects

Overall, what were your thoughts on the experience of creating the camp notebook? Was there anything new you learned about event planning that you had never really thought about before? What do you think the biggest challenge of planning an event like this would be? What's the main thing you want to make sure you remember about this type of event planning?

  1. I personally was stressed about the camp notebook. There were some things that I did not even know where to begin and that scared me a little. I learned just how many little details there are in event planning that I had never really considered before. I think the biggest challenge would be staying within your budget and not making the cost too high for the camp because then you would not have a good turn out. The main thing that I want to remember about this is to be willing to reach out and use your resources and not to be afraid to talk to people who have already done something like what you are planning.

  2. I was also stressed out about this notebook. The sections that I had I did not know how to go about them. I knew what they meant but didn't know what to put. I think I could of went into more detail on some things as well. I think the biggest challenge in planning a event like this is that everybody needs to be on board. You cannot plan an event by yourself it is a team effort. I want to make sure that I remember to have fun while planning an event and also using different resources and go out the extra mile. I want to be able to continue to grow in planning events.

  3. I enjoyed it. I am glad that we were required to do this. It will help me for my future ministry. I think the biggest challenged of planning an event like this would be the fact you do not know for sure the number of participants. That you need to get different views in planning an event such as this.

  4. Overall, I found the camp project to be a combination of fun and stressful. I enjoyed having the freedom and responsibly to do what we, as a group, wanted to do, from lesson planning to activities. The stress came when all of the details had to be ironed out because I am very much a big picture thinker. Luckily our group had a great balance of personalities as MB is very detail oriented. Having MB and Jared to fall back on definitely made the camp project less stressful! What I learned was how important and difficult a budget can be. There are so many factors to consider. The greatest challenge in planning this event was having so many possibilities and having to zero in on a set game plan. With this type of event planning, I really want to remember how much it helped to have others to fall back on and delegate responsibilities to!

  5. Overall, I liked the project, but it was stressful to work on. I have done all of these things in some compacity, so it was not hard to figure out, but having so much made things different. The only thing I think I learned was how to do an event for more than 50 students. I have used all these materials before, so I was okay with using them. The hardest thing was getting materials from pastors because not all of them kept records or would not have much to give because they do not use paperwork.

  6. For some reason it did not post this part:

The most challenging part of an event like this would be thinking about so many factors and people being involed. Your budget alone could be thrown off if you did not have the right about of teens sign up. On top of that you would need someone that was very detailed to make sure nothing is left out and that is in charge of rooming, which was really confusing.

  7. I never really realized all the work that has to go into planning an event like this for so many people, especially coming up with your own logo and everything else that is included. It was easy to gather everything together in the group because we had divided the work evenly and had met multiple times. The hardest part of this project was making sure that we had enough lodging and had saved enough room in the budget for everything. Those were some of the more challenging parts of the project. I want to keep this project because I know that I will need this to look back on once I am involved heavily in ministry. It will help me to make sure that I have every aspect of the trip covered, even the permission slips for stuff like zip lining.
