Teamwork: The 12 C's

Teamwork takes effort from everyone involved. Each of the 12 C's in the article are very important to achieving success when working as a team. Which of the 12 C's do you think is most important? And how could we bring that into making the teamwork in our class better?

  1. I think that the 12 C's were definitely meant to be used as one complete unit for successful team building. However, I do think that the communication aspect is by far one of the most important. Without it, none of the other C's can be implemented in a team. We have already discussed that our communication pre-event is not great. This is obviously applicable to our class team.

  2. I agree with Ben, communication is definitely the most important and we have talked about more communication with planning events. I also think clear expectations are very important! When the expectations and purpose of a group are not clearly defined, a lot of confusion and frustration will occur. A team cannot be affective when the individuals do not know their expectations or the collaborative expectations. For our class, it is really important that we understand what is expected of us and what we expect from our team members.

  3. I agree with Ben on how the 12 C's are looked at being used together to work in a perfect sense. Yet, to pick one I feel would work best, that would come from my personal preferences. My particular favorite would be commitment. I personally feel if one is not able to commit than I don't see that it is possible to work on the other areas to propel your group forward.

  4. I agree that all the 12 C's together in unison would obviously bring about the best results. Personally, I think competence is among the most important of the 12. Without the abilities for the team to perform the tasks for which it was formed, then the team is almost pointless. So, having the competence to fulfill the task at hand is a definite necessity in team building.

  5. Like the others so far, I also think all the 12 C's working together would bring about the best results. However, if I have to pick the ones I feel to be most important, I would say that communication and commitment are it. Without commitment, a person cannot really get involved or fully engage. That commitment is what drives us as individuals and us as a group. If we do not have that, what will motivate us? Then with communication it is important to all be on the same page. Without communication, the other aspects cannot be accomplished. I believe our class is committed but I do believe that communication is one area that needs to improve.

  6. I believe that communication is definitely in my mind the most important. Without it, things will not go as smoothly and problems can arise. I believe we can work for that in our class by making sure we are all staying connected by email and other ways with each other and not just with our groups.

  7. I also believe that communication is the most important aspect whenever you are participating in anything group related. If there is no communication then there is no teamwork, and it is a like a group of individuals are working separately instead of a collaborative and unified group.

  8. I think that control is pretty important. If you lose control of the group there will be a lot of confusion and a lack of organization. Make sure that there are clear instructions giving and an understanding of boundaries.

  9. I believe all 12 C's are very important to successful teamwork. Communication, to me, it very vital for a teamwork. Everyone needs to know what is going on and what job that each person is in charge. This helps keep everyone accountable for their job. When everyone knows what they are doing and what the other members of their group are doing, progress is made. When communication happens team work becomes easier.

  10. I agree with the above comments that the 12 C's are meant to me used together in order to achieve the best teamwork possible. Similarly to many of the others, I also think that communication might be the most important, because it is through communication that we do all the others, like clear expectation, context, coordination, and so on. Communication stands out to me in particularly, because that is one area in our class that seems to need some work.

  11. I also agree that communication is the most important of the 12 C's. If a group is not communicating well together than it will quickly fall apart. If there is no communication, there will be no teamwork because everyone will be doing their own thing.

  12. I think that all the C's are important but one that I think is very important is Communication because without this everything will fail and nothing will happen the way it needs to or go the right way. I mean how would a event come together if know one communicated with each other on what they wanted to do or even what they were going to do period. Like I said though all the C's are important and need to be included but I'm big on communication.

  13. I believe communication, commitment and competence stand out the most to me. My reasoning behind this is that without commitment there is not a desire or passion behind getting things done then I feel as though without communication things go wrong and competence is not gained by those who need training and more understanding of an event.
