FIrst Event Done

On Monday, we had our first event, and in my opinion, it went really well.  What were some of the reasons it went so well?  Or were there some things you think went wrong?  Did the way we split the groups work?  Were the games we chose the best for the group of people that came to the event?  What could we do to make MSO better using what we have learned from this event?

  1. I think the event went very very well. The games, for the most part, were well picked. However, we had to adapt to make the games appropriate for the size of the crowd as well as the crowd dynamics. I think we adapted well when we needed to, and that helped the event to go very smoothly. Also i think that each group really played their part well in planning this event, which means that nobody had to pick up the slack and do other peoples' work. This made for a very fun and well run night. Good job everyone, and a job well done!

  2. I thought that the event went over very well everyone I talked to really seamed to enjoy it. I thought the group to get people did a very good job at making sure everyone knew, and we had a great turnout. I think we did a good job at adapting the space available and the size of the group, we had some things that didn't work as well because so many came but we skipped over them and went to the games that were a lot better because of the size of the group we had. over all I think we did a pretty good job and I look forward to seeing how next years party turns out.

  3. I also think that the event was a success. Especially in comparison with past years, I seemed to get the vibe that the games were well picked and the participation from those who attended reflected that. I think we need to continue to work on adapting our games for the number of people we have. This is not a classroom learned skill, it must be experienced and intentionally practiced. We can focus on this during MSO. This has been stated, but I do think we need to focus on maintaining energy levels as well at MSO. Our planning was superb, and our participation was good. MSO should be a success as well.

One of the reasons it went so well is because of the great energy that was present among us during the event! There was nothing that really went wrong, I think maybe we could have all met with each other a little bit more before the event to have a better feel for what was going to happen on Monday. Other than that I believe things went fairly well. The only game that was probably not the best of fit was the psychiatrist game but we all saw that and adapted really well to shifting to the next game sooner. More planning could be done for MSO and all the groups could meet together so we all know what we can do to help each other out during that night. Things are going really well and I am impressed with our class! Keep up the great work group!

    1. I agree with all the above comments that this event went very well. The event went very smoothly and when we did have a slight issue we adapted quickly to it. Like Rachael I noticed all the groups should communicate more on what they are doing and where they are at in their planning. I thought that while we were trying to plan our particular part of the event we couldn't really move forward until we had heard from the other groups. I believe this was true for several of the groups. So for future reference the groups or group leaders should meet or communicate more. But in the end we still had a great event. Congratulations everyone!!! We have done our first event.

  6. Good job everyone! There really wasn't too much that went wrong and we all worked together to get through the couple things that did. Numerous people that I've talked to were really impressed by how well the event turned out. My friend Emalee that was in the class last year, definitely agreed that it was way better than the party they hosted. I think that if we keep communicating well and working through any kinks that come up, we'll continue doing great!

  7. To be honest, I was a little nervous before the event. It seemed like some groups were frustrated with communication issues, but in the end the event turned out great! I felt like all who attended were connecting well and having fun. I was impressed that most people stayed for the whole event. This shows that everyone who attended were having a great time and wanted to be there. For MSO, communication and adaptation will be key. MSO is going to be so great!

    1. I was in the same boat with Lauren in that I was pretty nervous too. I was worried that no one would participate in the games that we spent time on planning. But obviously, I had nothing to worry about. People genuinely had a fun night. Lauren is absolutely right about communication and adaptation. And really, those two things are huge in any kind of planning/event type of job or ministry.

  9. One of the reasons I felt like the event went well was because of the energy and planning of each individual group. The only problem I saw was communication between groups and group leaders. When planning MSO we should make sure we communicate better.

  10. I felt like the event went really well because each individual group knew what they were doing. The only thing I felt would've made the event go a bit better would be more communication between groups as some have already commented. The energy was great throughout the event and adaptations to games were made when needed. I felt like this would be good practice for MSO because we will most likely have to adapt our games then.

  11. It went very well. I think it very well because everyone did their part. Everyone was involved. Everyone was welcoming and knew exactly what they were supposed to do. Our class class seems to work and get along together extremely well and I am excited for our next event.

  12. One thing in particular that went well the smoothness of the event. I thought that it went really smoothly. I did not think that many things went wrong. One thing we could have done better was to be more involved in the games but I thought we did good for how many people were at the event. I thought that this event will be helpful for us when we are at MSO.

  13. I think that the thing this group did that was the most help was jumping in at all times to get stuff dine when it was necessary. the individual groups did great as well you could tell that most everyone put time and effort into making this an awesome event. the one thing that i would like to see change is for people to not be afraid to jump in and have fun with what ever group or event we are leading.

  14. I think the event went very well. I feel that the transitions were smooth and the crowd enjoyed the events. Compared to last years' event, it was so much better. I feel that we adapted to group size well and adapted well when the group started to lose interest in the games.
For MSO, we need to have the same awareness of the group's eagerness and willingness to participate. We need to be welcoming and fun, as hard as it is to relate with middle schoolers, we can't be afraid to act like a kid again.

  15. I think the event went fairly well because we were able to adapt, we were able to tweak or completely change the games that were struggling. I think the way we split the groups worked really well and as far as the game selection, for the most part it was great; I know of someone who was hesitant towards the whole game part of the night, but by the end they had a good time. I'd definitely say we have to pay attention to the groups attitudes towards the games and other activities we have planned and be prepared to change if necessary.
