Creative Process
I really enjoyed this week's class when we discussed the process of creating an event. It really interested me because I have never known how to organize an event without getting completely stressed out and overwhelmed. I felt like the process that we learned was easy to put together, and also fun. Some questions that I would ask are, what is the most stressful part to you about planning an event? Would you set it up the way that we learned in class, or would you have a different approach? Lastly, what is the part of event planning that you felt you learned the most about this past Monday?

For me, the most stressful part about planning an event is coming up with all the ideas and details, and then making sure everything comes together and all the details are finalized in order to be able to pull off the event. I think events are so complex, and that's what overwhelms me the most. I enjoyed the activity on Monday; it was cool to see the different dynamics play out as people learned to bounce ideas off each other and cooperate. I think the most helpful thing for me was just realizing how beneficial it is to plan in a group and not just on your own, and then how to take those ideas and best organize them in order to be as efficient and productive as possible.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, everything about planning an event can be extremely stressful. I think the most difficult part could probably be the very beginning of it because you sit down and you don't know even where to start. I thought what we did in class was a very awesome thing to do, and a very organized thing. I really see myself using this technique in my future ministry with various events that I have to plan, but I don't think
ReplyDeleteI would has many topic ideas on the board as we did, but what we did do was very awesome!

The most stressful part of planning an event for me is actually putting together activities making sure all of the details are in place. I really enjoy coming up with ideas to setting a direction for an event like the first few things we did in class, but the last thing where we actually had to write down activities I really struggled with. So realizing that I will need help from a team will be benefit me greatly in the future for planning events. I hope that I can implement more strategies as well to follow up after the card storming session to actually nail out the most effective ways to teach and engage the teens.
ReplyDeleteI think the hardest part about planning the event is allotting time and transitions. I feel like I am pretty creative, so coming up with ideas and putting them in place isn't really the issue. The logistics are what is hard for me. I really loved what we did on the board. A mind dump, then clumping things together. I'll definitely use this in future ministries. I think I learned most about the content of a retreat. The setup is important and I am glad we actually used class time to do a sample retreat, rather than just talking about how to do it.
ReplyDeleteI think the hardest part of planning is coming up with the ideas. I say this because it usually takes me awhile to come up with a list of ideas about things, but once I know what ideas we're working with, then I can articulate a theme and ideas for how to promote that theme/idea.
ReplyDeleteI was glad we had a mock planning session, as I found it helpful. I thought it was a good exercise and it helped us get a better idea of what exactly a planning session can look like.
For me is working out the simple details. I'm very much a big picture person and it seems like no matter how hard I try I still somehow forget something pretty simple but pretty important. Doing an event is no problem, but this class in some ways stressed me out because I could envision what this could look like, but getting there seems tricky almost.
ReplyDeleteI think this approach is very helpful and I would totally use it with creative people that know what would work and what wouldn't in term of plan ideas. Overall I think that this approach of just letting the creative juices flow out can bring up so many positive and wonderful ideas.
That it doesn't always need to be stringent and something boring. This method of brainstorming gave me an opportunity to take event planning from a whole new perspective that I never would have tried on my own.

I think the hardest/most stressful part of planning an event is making sure everyone is on the same page and has the same goal in mind. This can be overlooked: of course everyone has the same goal behind an event the church is putting on...but if communication is lacking leading up to an event, people might not have the same understanding about key elements of the event, which play into the overall purpose and goal. The preparation level will reflect the dedication of the individuals, and how seriously they take the concept of being on the same page and organized.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the planning process we went through. I took lots of notes because I plan on using that strategy this summer for planning my lessons. I learned that it can be very valuable to bring other people into the planning process. The ideas you have to work with multiply as you bring in more people to help. It does not and should not have to be done all on your own from beginning to end. Even when the brainstorming is done, you should delegate and receive help from others whose strengths are different than yours.
